Abstract

The article represents the first attempt to review the corpus of 260 summary papers written by A. Makhov for the INION journal Social and Humanitarian Sciences. Domestic and foreign literature. Series 7: Literary Studies from 1998 to 2018. The topics of these papers are analyzed, and the key ones are identified that are organically connected with the main research fields of the scholar (emblematics, the history of European and Russian poetics, the history of European romanticism, the relationship between music and words, medieval Christian demonology), their structure (special attention is paid to the final pointe), their style (it is best defined by Makhov’s favorite word lucidus); traces of the influence of the reviewed sources on Makhov’s original works are noted, as well as echoes of his oral presentations and lectures for students. The analysis carried out allows us to determine the place of summary papers in Makhov’s scholarly system; see them as a kind of creative laboratory of the scholar.
